Not exactly a "turd", but about as cheap a Peavey as they come. I think this thing originally sold in a "starter" pack, with amp and cord, et al., for maybe $100. I found this at the flea-market, in almost like-new condition, for dirt cheap. I loved it. (That old simple-'n-clean thang that I love.) Here's a stock photo:

So, I had to mess with it. Note the cheap-ass tuner built into the upper bout. Thankfully, my version didn't have that. I put in a Chinese Hipshot clone bridge that I had lying around. (You can find these on eBay for less than $10 shipped.) The odd thing is, I have a genuine Hipshot bridge, and the clone is slightly larger, slightly thicker, and heavier/more mass. And the holes lined up perfectly. It was virtually plug-'n-play.

I originally put a Nazgul in there, but it wasn't to my liking. Killer when dirty, but no good clean tone. Plus, it cost more than the whole project. So, I put in a GFS Dream 180 that I had laying about. Perfect fit. Sweet and clean, crystal clear, but with nice harmonic goodness. And it fit the price-point of the project.

I think of this as the "adult" version of a Hello Kitty Strat. With new bridge, pickup, CTS pots, OD cap, and Switchcraft jack, I have maybe $80 bucks in this. And she's sweet.
I'm really trying to wean myself off of modding cheap guitars, but I had to do this one. I'm very happy with the result.
