PATB-2

Should I be worried that all of the PATB series pickups say "Out of stock, unavailable." ? I have a couple of guitars loaded with the PATB-1, and would like to try the PATB-2. I cannot seem to find them online.

I'd look up authorized dealers. The SD site says lots of stuff is out of stock right now, but you should be able to get it from a dealer.

I noticed quite a few missing pickups in the SD lineup today when i did my search. With the PATB issue, it could be getting those special bobbins.

SD is very much still playing catch-up. Anything with special covers/bobbins appear to be lower on the priority list, so stock on P-Rails, the Parallel Axis stuff, etc. has been steadily waning.

We should see a resurgence around the end of the year. It's around that time that I'm hoping SD will do a special double-cream run of the Parallel Axis pickups for us forum members!

For those of you that have played the PABT-2, what are the tonal differences to the TB-6? I know the PATB-1b is JBish but sweeter in the mids.

The PATB-2 is like an overwound Distortion, if you can imagine that, but with PA clarity. It's hotter than the Distortion with more midrange grunt and a smoother, less biting top end, but it doesn't feel congested. It's definitely a high output beast and doesn't always clean up fully, so if you want sparkling clean tones, you should plan to wire it for splitting (which I highly recommend).
