Peavey 6534+ head VS Marshall JCM 2000dsl 100

hi how r u guys doing?
i have a Marshall JCM 2000 connected to a Celestion Super 8 speaker. i like British style amps and this Marshall is the perfect for that.
i was wondering what do you guys think about the Peavey 6534+ amp head in comparision to the Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100.

I would hang on to the DSL. The 6534 isnt as british sounding as you would think it is, assuming that is what you are going for. I honestly think the DSL is better than the 6534 in pretty much every way. What is making you consider going with the 6534?

As a Marshall fan, I know that the Peavey 6534 will give up more gain for that type of sound. You don't see many 6505 series amps for sale on the used market, and way less of the 6534 EL-34 versions. If you find one, grab it.

The 6534 is just an 6505/6505+ with EL34s and a different transformer set from what I've gathered.

It won't sound that british but it will absolutely destroy the DSL tonewise if you are going for heavier kinda sounds. Lower gain the DSL will come out on top.

I'd take the 6534 anyday but I do have a hatred for all things jcm2000!

I owned a JCM2000 TSL and a 5150 (before it was renamed 6505) at the same time. I sold the JCM2000 first.

Hes asking about a DSL not a TSL. They might be from the same family but the DSL is definitely the higher regarded of the 2. TSL's are finicky and hard to dial in which is the exact opposite of a DSL

i am connecting it to a single celestion super 8. well i want a amp that is british sounding to the bone. i kept the Marshall, at the end of the day im just in love with the CRUNCH of a Marshall. is there anything out there that can give you a better Crunch that a Marshall JCM 2000??

Consider getting a speaker cab upgrade before doing anything else.

An 8" speaker, in what I assume is in a open back practice amp enclosure is going to hold any 100 watt amplifier back from it's potential. You're also playing it on the risky side by using an underpowered speaker with such an amp.

I recommend getting a closed back 2x12 cabinet with Vintage 30s or similar.

Check you local craigslist. Los Angeles area is like the west coast music mecca, if nothing pops up on craigslist check out the sunset strip in hollywood. It's home to Carvin, Mesa, and has an amazing guitar center and sam ash.

You should check out some Orange amps. My favorite amps are Marshall's and Orange. Be worth looking into if you like that British crunch.

If I had to pick one band that I really want to see live right now, I'd like too see Lamb Of God. But for something a little more "thrash" I would also love to see Slayer.
