well, i tried everything that everyone recomended and finally broke down and took it to my amp tech, (so much for me trying to learn electrical work). turns out the input jack was bad. he told me that they get corrosion on them and the signal actually arcs and thats what was causing the volume swells. he put a new jack in it and its rockin like a new one.
