I found this picture of my old behemoth rig. The Peavey bandit actually drove those speakers so well. The whole setup despite its look was actually awesome as. I have since got a peavey jsx so i don't use the bandit much anymore but i have started using the speakers again. Anyone wondering what VASE is there a Aussie amplifier/speaker cab company based in brisbane. The company have recently opened back up, i have been meaning to go try one of there valve heads

Re: Peavey bandit with VASE towers

What is the spkr compliment in the cabs?

Say what? Not sure hey there all where made with top level parts tho. I think maybe greenbacks but i cant really remember i would have to pull the back of to see which is about 30 wood screws of doom.

Re: Peavey bandit with VASE towers

Actually there either MSP or Etone now i look back through my old emails from the company. I dont know if MSP or Etone are anygood but the certainly sound good to me either as a cab or just stand alone speakers.

Re: Peavey bandit with VASE towers

Compliment = how many drivers are in each cab? What size?

There is 3x15'' in each tower i believe. or it could be 3x12 looking at that picture in comparison to the bandit speaker

Edit: i think bandits have a 12'' speakers so. they must be 12'' also.

Strange array, but I bet it sounds really cool!

Yeah they are really well made and high quality. My mate and i used them yesterday with a midi guitar i built up for him. The speakers handled the wide range of patches really well especially considering how old they are.

Here is there current website, they have just started making the amps and cabs again. http://www.vase.com.au/products/guitarcabinets.php

Re: Peavey bandit with VASE towers

Are they open back or closed cabinets ?

Where have I seen that pic before ?

Yes. i've extensively renovated it. I still have a little more to do to it which was put off due to lack of funds. I should get back on track with that soon.
Vase are really nice people. They supplied me with a circuit for a TS100 which is almost identical to the TS80 I have, free of charge. it was a big help in making sure I had everything right. They quite readily will answer to the best of their knowledge inquiries about old amps and boxes.
I use it with an SD quad box. [ see in the thread I linked.]

I've seen similar boxes as yours in pics posted on BomberBlitz, an Essendon fan site.

Re: Peavey bandit with VASE towers

Those columns were probably originally meant to go with a PA head. A lot of valve PAs got used as guitar amps back in the day, and many of them sounded great for guitar. The columns often had four 12s in each one.

Etone speakers were made in Sydney in ... i think ... the late '60s and the '70s, and were used in a lot of locally-manufactured gear. They were good speakers, and could be reconed cheaply and easily if they needed to be. I have a reconed pair here, they sound great.

If you want to know more about the original Vase amps, take a look here ....

I just recently had my 1989 Peavey Bandit reserviced and cleaned , inside and out. Plus I had the missing knob from the post on the gain section replaced as well. For a 24 year old combo, it now sounds like it just came off of the assembly line. These amps are like frigging tanks.

Nice Mr crust i thought you may of had some info on them thanks. My brother has a thinner set of vase towers that have 4x12 in them. Strangely enough mine seem to have a bit more mojotone than his. Maybe its because of 3x speakers. I noticed on there current website there guitar cabs all have 3x as well.
