I need the extra Cash, My band isn't making any money and honestly the Classic 50 2x12 I played today blew me away. It obviously wasn't as good as the orange, but it was close enough, and it has an effects loop which I need badly.

I figure saving 500-600 dollars, getting a Tone I can be happy with, and getting what I need, an effects loop. That's a good decision to me.

I can use some of the money on a really sweet pedalboard too.

My only question is. I never tried the 4x10 Version. Can anyone give me their opinion on which is best for an Alternative/Hardcore band? Think Circa Survive, Chiodos, Incubus, The Sound of Animals Fighting.

So I'm actually going to make this a poll. I must admit I love the idea of taking the logo off of the Peavey 4x10 and trying to fool people into thinking I'm rocking a Fender Bassman. Also the 4x10 is a bit easier to find used than the 2x12. I can always change the speakers to something a bit more rocking with the amount of money I'm saving but if 12's are flat out better I'll do that.

unless you have a roadie to lug around your gear, i'd get the 2x12....

I have a 4x10 combo, it's more a rockabilly sound. If you want a more rock sound I'd go with the 2x12. I use mine with a 15" classic cab on the bottom.

2x12 if you're changing the speakers

4x10 otherwise

i'd think g12h30's would be a better match, though

just my opinion

4x10 have a great punch to em, they sound great.

other wise a 2x10 w/new speakers as drew said ;)

I have a trade + cash thing in the works on thegearpage.net. He has the 4x10 but says he can put in 2 12 inchers if I want.

Maybe a Greenback G12H30 combo would be better. I heard V30's are a bit much for an already middy amp.
