Peavey classic question

So I'm about to purchase a classic 50 that has a pair of aftermarket speakers but I'm not sure how they would sound together, it has a celestion vintage 30 and a celestion 75th anniversary g12h30, both made in england. Does anyone have experience with these two speakers together? I've heard mixed reviews so I'd like a clear response.the avatar speakers website sais that they are a great combination but other forums say other wise. Also, are classic 50's especially dark sounding amps? I've heard nothing clear about that either. The peavey also has the blue mod, which is just higher quality caps and other small parta. Thanks in advance!

Re: Peavey classic question

Can't speak to the pairing of those speakers with the C50. The amp with the blue guitar mods isn't what I would describe as dark sounding, but is certainly warmer than than the classic twin clean tone. If it's anything like mine it should be a great sounding amp.

What does the blue guitar mod do exactly? Also, I'm getti ng all this for 400 bucks, sound like a good deal?

Re: Peavey classic question

I imagine the retail price of those two speakers is close to 400 bux.
I can't imagine anybody being that put-off by the combo...but if you are, either one will be an easy sell...then buy something you like.
I would not describe that amp as dark...especially with an H30 making up half of your sound.
But I think the speakers will be a non-issue.
best

I think the speaker combo would be good in it. balance out. I have a classic 30 and the stock speaker was kinda meh.. when I would hit a big chord, the stock one would kinda thud before the notes would ring out. I put in and Eminence Private Jack in it and it is alil darker sound overall, but no more thud and it sounds great.

v30 and g12H30?
great pair of speakers.

Of course all speakers are individual preference and we all have sounds we like and dislike, but in the event that you don't like them, given the popularity of both of those speakers you will have no trouble selling them on ebay and replacing them with something else.
