Re: Peavey JSX
I had an Ultra 120 and I currently have a Triple X. The Ultra series are a little grainier in texture and the highs are a little more rolled off and get a little more harsh when turned up. The Triple X and JSX are very similar, the gain was tamed a bit for the JSX. The mids were voiced just a little different on the Triple X. I think they were moved up just bit and the high end is smoother ala George Lynch input. "Heavier" is subjective, I run the Triple X pre gain on about 3.5 for heaviness, more than that turns to furry mush depending on the guitar.
Sounds like the Ultra channel on the JSX is more saturated than the ultra channel on my amp.. Anyone know if this is the case??
I really like to know about the ultra gain on the jsx compared with the ultra plus.. Sounds heavier in the store, but its hard to compare accurately..
