Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

I won't agree that they kick a$$
but I will make you feel worse by telling you the Penta sounds pretty good.

BTW Interesting thing someone once told me. Hartley Peavey gets cheap labor thru the corrections system of Mississippi. The inmates lean skills that they take to Peavey when they are released, earning them real careers as music techs and merchants.

I think this is a very positive thing, and brilliant entrepreneurialism and pro-American labor move on his part.

Do you have it Onlin??? Can you elaborate on that more please. And if its really true about the corrections system, I am definately getting one, one way to insure that somebody does not go back inside is atleast give them a chance to learn a craft to be passionate about not just a "trade"

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

I think it's an interesting concept. The soundclips are mediocre at best, but compelling.

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

I've seen some nice deals on Peaveys on Ebay recently....several Pentas and JSX's. This year, they also introduced Classic 30 heads. Before, I think they only had the Classic 50 and 100 heads. The Windsor looks promising.

One thing Peavey does that sucks is make those cheap footswitches with a rubber bottom and a non-detachable cord. In all fairness, Fender's footswitches suck too.

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

didn't like the Valve King *at all*, but am looking foward to the Penta...

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

If thats true about the convicts making equipment, thats just bad ass. Imagine having a amp made by someone named "Killer". But that is a good thing to hear though. Is the Penta coming a combo? Mincer what didnt you like about the valveking?

that is an awesome thing...major props to Peavey for that!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

Most amp companies make some champs and some turkeys. Overall, Peavey has been very good to me, and has an awesome bang for the buck factor. For the past decade or so, they have been a contender in lots of categories!

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

At the lynyrd skynyrd concert on VH1C one of them was using the penta.

They all had AMAZING tone, Classics, XXXs, and the Penta. I have no idea who was using what, but the important thing is, none of them sucked.

They had 3 doors down plugin to the same equipment and they actually sounded good, 1st time in their career.

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

I don't know Jeff_H, I loved the Bull and the ModFlop modes, freaking awesome,
yeah the cleans could be better, but I am sure that cleans sound better than they do on this set of clips. I think that MudFlop nails hot JCM800 better than most of the reissues.

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

I will say this, the Penta is about the best sounding PV amp being made right now but I can't stand PV amps (or guitars for that matter) at all...they are just cheap made and sound like it to me...sorry to all the PV fans out there but I have yet to play a PV amp that really impressed me at all.

How else will you get that "Saturation" overdrive? :chairfall

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

My classic sounds good but I can't get any cleans out of it.

Anywhere above 6-8 on the master and it doesn't matter if you use the lead channel or clean channel.

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

Are those Valvekings really bad?

Our local distributor just had them on display and it's priced about the same as a Vox AD50VT. It's got me thinking really. I'm not buying anything until like middle of next month, so i have time. I can't A/B both coz they're from different distributor, so your opinions will matter a lot. Thanks!
