The Sheffield 1290s are somewhat similar to Celestion G12T 75s. Strong highs and lows with a somewhat scooped midrange. I have used both, and even mixed and matched in the same cabinet. Peaveys (going back a ways to the Ultra serries in the 90s) are strong in the mids with good thump so the 1290s compliment them well. They may be a little too scooped for a Mesa amp but would work well with the Marshall type sounds. The Celestion V30 works well with amps that are mid scooped by their nature, but will work well with Marshall/Fender/Peavey/Mesa etc sounding amps. Just an opinion....
