Peavey Windsor

Re: Peavey Windsor

VM, yes. Tiny pots soldered to PCB - POS.

Now i know for a fact that you havent been inside a windsor. Guess what scoobs the pots on the windsor are mounted to the board also you just dont see it in that pic because they are on the other side. Heres a better pic for you. So you know what your looking at you are seeing the preamp tube socket and the inputs right there. The pot you can see mounted to the board is the preamp volume.

Re: Peavey Windsor

Now, this amp is being sold for $600. Which is stupid.

Basic high school ecnomics. Nothing in the guitar industry is priced soley on its intrinsic or production cost. The market sets the price, If something is over priced in the market they wont sell and the company wont make money. Companies set their price points based on what the market will bear.

Is this worth $30,000?

Re: Peavey Windsor

Tell me anywhere that iam factually wrong? Are those pots not pcb mounted? are the transformers in a windsor not infact smaller than a jcm800? are the tube sockets not infact mounted to the pcb of a windsor?

Re: Peavey Windsor

Did I say anywhere that Windsor's pots are not PCB mounted? I actually confirmed a couple of pages prior to this one that they are. My point is that Marshall does the same thing and they are not ashamed to ask for it 5 to 10 times more money. Market's are only as good as people's knowledge which is poor.

But this has nothing at all to do with the construction of the peavey windsor from a factual stand point. You are trying to say "but they do it too" as an excuse for low build standards. Thats never been the point. In particular because i have never discussed modern marshall build quality.

Frankly i wont because i dont discuss things that I dont have expierence with only stuff i have first hand knowledge of and the latest marshall i have owned is a first series DSL

Re: Peavey Windsor

Archer you gotta explain that reference to me. One bad part to not living stateside is I'm out of the loop cinematically speaking.

edit never mind i get it i looked at the image and didnt read the text.

Re: Peavey Windsor

Are the components in a Windsor as good as the original 800s... no (I've never opened one of the new reissues), that's not to say a Windsor is a bad amp, but it was built with cheaper components and marketed as an entry level tube amp, and will likely always be viewed as such. Will they last as long as an 800? I guess we'll have to ask that question in 20-25 years when they're the same age as 800s are now. I will add that if the Windsor had a Marshall logo instead of Peavey the used prices would probably be 2-3x what they are now.

Re: Peavey Windsor

OK, I just nuked 19 posts because of quotes of insults. Instead of replying to and quoting the insults report them. I'd rather have not had to nuke stuff.

I'd also rather not completely nuke this thread because there was a good discussion going on until somebody decided he didn't have to follow the rules.

This is Seymour's house. Play nice.

I think in the future, I'm gonna just avoid threads that turn into this. For some reason, I always get caught up in this stuff. Maybe I need to stop coming here...
