Pedal Board Completed

I recently put together a board with all the stuff I've been desiring to use. I call it "El Ridiculoso."

Signal chain:
1. Polytune (tuner)
2. POG2 (octave up/down w/controls for attack, detune, & saving presets)
3. Swollen Pickle (thick fuzz)
4. VOD (3 overdrives in one)
5. Proton (envelope filter)
6. Vortex (flanger)
7. Chopper (trem/pan pedal)
8. H20 (chorus & echo)
9. Bad Horsie (wah)
10. Hall of Fame (reverb)
11. Flash Back (delay)
Cables are mostly Lava Kit (came up short by 2 patch cables and used a couple that I had lying around).
Half of the pedals are powered with the 1Spot, the other half with the built-in DC. The only exception being the POG2 using its own supply.
The power strip also acts as an effect loop, guitar in one side and the out goes to the amp. So far I haven't had any issues with noise or tone-robbing.

The little black dots on the power strip (next to the Flash Back delay) are various rubber feet that I peeled off some of the pedals before attaching the Velcro.

The Gig-Fx pedals (Chopper & VOD) are cool and very usable. But the real fun with this rig stems from the POG2, holy cow that thing is cool! Freaked out my band-mates the other night when I started sounding like a keyboard on one tune and simulated backwards guitar on another. They had to stop and ask where those sounds were coming from. I haven't tried the reverse setting on the FlashBack yet, should be an interesting comparison between it and the POG.

Re: Pedal Board Completed

So, no one's got anything to say? No criticisms? No one telling me I'm using all the wrong stuff? Kinda disappointing, really.

the forum is very click-ish, I'm sorry to say. Now your finding out. If one of the "in" guys wouldve posted this, everyone would be raving about it with 50 replies by now..plus, it deosnt help that you've become associated with myself...I'm not a favorite here, and deservedly so...you deserve better.

Re: Pedal Board Completed

exquisite work, man. looks heavy as hell.

The cool thing is that it packs up nice & neat with a hard top and has the handle w/rollers so all I have to do is lay it the floor, take the cover off and it's ready to go. When the gig's over I just put the cover on the top, latch it and use the pull-out handle to drag it behind me.

Re: Pedal Board Completed

It looks nice and I would bet it sounds awesome.....I just don't know what half of what those units do.

Re: Pedal Board Completed

Awesome set-up. That wheel case thing is genius. :friday:

Re: Pedal Board Completed

I like the pedals but I don't like the configuration. Just my opinion.

Re: Pedal Board Completed

ive been asking a few ppl but to no luck so far....how does the pickle sound if you run it after a wah? Does it get all nasty and thin like a fuzz face or does it still sound fat?

Re: Pedal Board Completed

Very nice!

What do the Vod and Chopper do?
The VOD is a variable overdrive. Three overdrive channels with a master EQ (bass, mid, treble). The footswitch has four positions: off, and then the three overdrives. As you push the footswitch forward it clicks into place and an LED lights up which channel you're on. Each overdrive has its own level and gain control via concentric pots.

The Chopper is a tremolo/pan pedal. The footswitch is similar to a wah pedal in that you can control the speed of the pedal by just sweeping it back and forth. It has two "sides" to the pedal, one is a drastic on/off sound with variable ratio and rate of on-to-off, and the other side is a more traditional tremolo sound with variable depth and speed. Some whacky noises can be had by combining the chop side with the trem side. I think it was originally designed to be able to do the intro to "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who.

I like the pedals but I don't like the configuration. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm having to get used to it as well. The first attempt resulted in some of the pedals being difficult to reach, so I had to rearrange everything.

I haven't run the Pickle after my wah yet, but in general I've found that I prefer the wah after any dirt, so I just set it up that way out of habit. The Pickle is pretty thick sounding and I usually turn it on for those times when I want more sustain or just a darker tone.

Dude! That is frackin' awesome!!!!! Very sweet setup. Packed to the max with some shrewd tonal awesomeness. Well done. Bravo!

(that better?)

Re: Pedal Board Completed

You have all the pedals I am currently lusting for on one board...super jealous. That setup looks like alot of fun though.
