Re: pedal board Velcro?

I use the "Industrial Strength" stuff:

Re: pedal board Velcro?

I may have to pick some up tomorrow. The rubber on some pedals resists the adhesive completely...

Re: pedal board Velcro?

Well that's your problem - you need to take the rubber off completely. That's what I had to do with my TS-9 and the odd Boss I've owned.

Re: pedal board Velcro?

i dont have it on my pedaltrain, but it looks official.

THIS!

I use it to. Stop in Lowes, Home Depot or any hardware/home improvement store should have em in stock. I think the longest I had a pedal that stayed on my board was a couple years and havent replaced the velcro since.

oddly enough, I kept the rubber on some of my pedals. That industrial stuff still works well on it.

I found 15 foot (?) rolls at Wal-Mart a few years back. Was about $20 as I recall.

I also use the industrial strength Velcro brand stuff.

rock solid.

Re: pedal board Velcro?

If you don't need that much, you can often buy it by the foot in fabric stores.

Re: pedal board Velcro?

I've used that industrial strength Home Depot velcro for years. The glue used doesn't stick well to rubber and will come off with time, so you really want to take the rubber off first.

I just mounted all my pedals on my powertrain with it. After 24 hours it's very hard to get the pedals off again. The hardest to keep on a board is a heavy Crybaby- I just ordered a Crybaby mounting plate from stompin ground- it gives you a flat surface to the bottom of the crybaby, giving it alot more grip.

I'm like to try Powergrip if I could find it in stores since it supposedly has better glue, but so far the home depot industrial stuff works, so long as you don't mount it on rubber

Re: pedal board Velcro?

The industrial strength stuff is the answer. I've got a mounting plate for my Crybaby too and with the industrial velcro, that thing isn't falling off the board any time soon. I can shake the board upside down and it won't fall off.

Re: pedal board Velcro?

Industrial strength for me too. It's also very important to remove any rubber pads or feet first, and to give the bottom of the pedal a good cleaning with rubbing alcohol or methanol before applying the Velcro. If there's already glue on the pedal from a previous Velcro application or a rubber pad, I use Goo Gone and a razor blade to get rid of it.

Another tip I recently learned from the Trailer Trash site is to put Velcro around the edges of the pedal and not in the center. I used to just put a big chunk of it in the center, but this is far less stable and places unnecessary strain on the Velcro. It's not necessary to coat the entire bottom of the pedal in Velcro - just do the edges.

Re: pedal board Velcro?

I've talked to a few pedalboard makers, and their favorite for smooth deck boards is 3M Dual Lock, and for fuzzy ozite boards Industrial Velcro.

At work, we had a big supply of Industrial Velcro in 1 1/2" circles, so that's what I've been using since it's basically free.

Re: pedal board Velcro?

I bought a roll of Industrial strength velcro at home Depot about 6 or 7 years ago. Evey once in a while a pedal comes loose but I reattach it and its fine. If you want to remove the old stuff you can use WD40 to remove the adhesive. Velcro works great!

Re: pedal board Velcro?

I just use the brand name velcro at Lowes... Whatever lovepedal gives with their pedals is the strongest I have ever seen. My pickle vibe came with a peice of see through velcro. It was so strong I could barely get it off my board.....

Re: pedal board Velcro?

You know if your just playing at home it really shouldn't matter that much. But when I started playing out more I needed something more permanent. I bought a box with a removable top, mounted all my pedals on a shelf board that I propped at an angle then screwed that to the bottom of my transport box. Now when I show up for a gig or practice, I just take the top off, plug one cable into my amp and the other into my guitar and I am ready to play!
