Pedal PCB Giveaway!

Mr 9finger

Digitally Challenged
I was going through my pedal parts and noticed I had duplicates of a couple. So instead of them just setting around here not doing anything. I figger I'll give them away to someone that either wants to give pedal building a shot or already has experience in doing so. The PCBs are a JCM 800 in a box preamp emulator and a GGG ITS8 tubescreamer clone. They've already been drilled. All you need to drill is for the mounting tabs and source your own parts. I'll PM you links to where you can get the layouts for each!

For me to pick the winner, I want you to describe your favorite Guitar, pedal, and amp setup and why you you like them so much in detail.

This open to anyone. I don't care where you're at. It can't cost that much to ship these anyway. I'll leave the contest open until Sunday Sept. 9 at 10:30PM

Re: Pedal PCB Giveaway!

A Dual Humbucker floyd rose flying V for ultimate versatility and looks Into a wah and graphic EQ set as a mid-high frown face and gained out. Randall SS preamp full presence mids cut to 0 bass and treble quite high. Gain on about 5-7... Parametric EQ This into a 100watt 6L6 tube poweramp into 4x12 cab.

Crushing for hard palm muted power chords, really defined for solos and shredding on the neck pickup, really ballsy for chords, very articulate for speed riffs.

Yes I love my rig.

The wah is a Dime cry baby from hell and it has lots of settings to give you the exact filter you want. The MXR 10 band is virtually noiseless and the sliders light up which is handy for a dimly lit stage.

Re: Pedal PCB Giveaway!

Guitar: Superstrat shape for the comfort - the belly cut and overall body contour makes it just heavenly to play! Two humbuckers, naturally, for a nice ballsy tone. Must me made of mahogany - I love the feeling of a nice slab of mahogany hugging my torso when I've got the axes strapped on. Sounds quite beefy, too! I'm a stickler for TOM bridges - I pick very hard, and need something to rest my hand on while I beat away. I also like the feeling of not being super close to the guitars body the entire time, and the angle of the neck because of the TOM.

Pedal: Just a tubescreamer and a noisegate. I love the low cut and slight mid boost you get from a tubescreamer - it drives the amp nicely, gives everything a tighter, clearer, more punchy sound. I also love how creamy the mids get, and how smooth the top end is. Very pleasant on the ears!

Amp: Anything with the "Soldano" type circuit will fit me fine. 5150, Recto, Framus Cobra, the SLO100 itself, etc. The midrange quality on these amps is perfect for the style of music I do, and slides itself into the mix quite nicely. Cuts great in a band situation without having an overly harsh top end. Not a big stickler for cleans, so that's not a huge deal with these amps and their 'less than average' clean channels.

If chosen I'd take the TS9 clone - I'd like to have another flavor as an overdrive in addition to my Maxon OD808, and it'd be nice to leave one pedal in my live rig and one in my recording rig - not have to unhook everything all the time.

Re: Pedal PCB Giveaway!

I WANT that 800 so bad :D

Favorite guitar: Kramer Stagemaster (oooh the surprise there buddy :) ) Why? It sounds unbelievable. The board is baby smooth ebony. And that guitar and I just bond.

Pedal... The Plexitone. It just was very cool of Rid to send me this, and it sounds absolutely great. I love the boost function since it makes me feel I can blow up any amps :D :D :D But the two channels work great together and it's got loads of gain. I love it. It just means a lot to me as well.

Amp... well my laney VC15. It's just really sweet sounding. The drive channel can sound a bit dull but it cleans up well and when kicked by an OD pedal... WOW. I LOVE it. The clean channel sounds beautiful and can go from country spank to bluesy thick clean. A real good companion to my tone.

Good luck to the other contestants!

Re: Pedal PCB Giveaway!

I'm pretty close to my perfect setup at the mo. I'd love a "plexi" type amp instead of the TSL, then I could use my Plexitone prototype for a little more grunt, and I'd use the 800 pedal for when things really get angry!!
I'd put my G&L Legacy through a SD Pickup Booster, Morley Wah, Jekyll and Hyde, Plexitone into the amp. A delay and chorus would finish it all off nicely. I could get most things using that and my guitar's volume.
I'd really like to add a Gibson M-III to that little lot too, for it's cool looks and versatility.

Re: Pedal PCB Giveaway!

Times up fellas. Contest is closed. Since there was only 4 entries, I'll send each person a board. Sound fair enough?

Re: Pedal PCB Giveaway!

I was gonna enter, but I didn`t have any use for those boards. I would`ve just ended up giving them to someone had I won. Congrats to the winners!
