Pedals go from broken to working... Sellable?

I may have put this in a thread a while back but I was selling my BOSS BF-3. When the guy who bought it recieved it he claimed it wasn't working I gave him a refund sure enough it didn't operate properly it would start working then suddenly go to bypass after a few seconds and not work other then bypassed. Fast forward a year to now after it has been sitting around doing nothing and tada it works perfectly no switching problems no sound problems like brand new. I've tested it with both batteries and power and it works fine!

Now the question is should I still sell it, I don't want it and they aren't really just throwaway. I though if I listed on eBay have a 14 day return policy that way if it does have problems the winner can return it but at this stage it is working perfectly.

I really don't want to piss people off or sell something that is broken. I've opened it up and can't see any problems but its mostly SMD components so its hard to tell. What should I do?

trade it in to a local gear shop?
I never thought of that I don't know many shops in Melbourne that deal with second hand pedals if anyone on the forum does it would help

I've had the switch go on boss pedals . . . but that's generally an issue where the pedal doesn't turn on/off properly when you stomp on it.

There's a flip flop circuit that's used to do switching on Boss pedals. It's possible that one of the transistors in the circuit is bad, which would cause the pedal to always be in bypass. I don't have a schematic for the BF-3 though to tell you what component you should be reading. Ask the guys here: http://www.bossarea.com They're pretty good for figuring out / modifying boss pedals, and might be able to tell you what to do to fix it.

When it wasn't working I did post it up on Boss Area with no luck it seemed to work while on for a few seconds then switch it was like it overloaded or something no it has been left for a while it works perfectly. Even if it could technically be fixed being SMD I couldn't do it and it would be almost impossible to see if it was fixed as it isn't now malfuntioning. I'm gonna test it for a few days to see if the problem shows up but I used it yesterday and today without a hitch.

You could sell it as broken. There are people who would buy it for parts, or even just to try to fix it.

Play with it for a few days and if it works, it works. Your old buyer probably didn't like it so rather than re-sell it, he probably just said "it's broken" and sent it back.

The thing is it was broken sorta and now its fully working I'm gonna play with it over the next few weeks when I come back from holidays I'll test it again and then probably put it up if it can work for a month then thats good. I've bought plenty of used gear that didn't work properly or stopped working within a month but I consider that something that happens when you buy used its the only disadvantage.

Take it to a good Tech and if it needs fixing get it fixed and name your price!

I used to buy switches from Roland corp. You might be able to as well. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the switch was iffy.

sell it as is. be up front about the problem, and eat the loss. you'll be glad it's gone.

"ALBATROSS!".................."get it on a stick!"

Smallbear electronics sells a switch that's the perfect size to replace the ones in boss pedals. I've replaced four switches that have gone bad with them, so they definitely will work for this application.
