SD, i like you too much to remain silent.
the current debauchery in the guise of zephyr-related threads is damaging to the company.
somewhere on the east coast, larry dimarzio and the guy from GFS are laughing their arses off.

can i get a like or a +1 from those in agreement?

this is not an argument thread, i just want to illustrate the wishes of the silent majority of people here.

we need SD-approved info, and clips that actually demonstrate the sound of the pickups (ie a clean amp, low notes-per-second, chords).

Re: Petition to remove all Zephyr-related threads until SD produce their own demo/s.

This thread is useless without a poll.

Thanks, but I'm not dancing on it unless both ends are securely bolted in place.

Sweetwater "Minute", nearly ten minutes... Love ya guys at Duncan, but Zephyr was a bit hairbrained. I'd have loved to see a good improvement in the marketing of the Duncan Designed stuff, to directly compete with GFS.

Well, Zephyr is a form of wind!

Re: Petition to remove all Zephyr-related threads until SD produce their own demo/s.

Err! Yer getting about 30 seconds or less of actual Zepher demonstration, the rest is talk for almost ten minutes.
They seem to have that the wrong way round if they want demonstrate them.

Re: Petition to remove all Zephyr-related threads until SD produce their own demo/s.

The only thing hairbrained was leaving my wallet in my back pocket for that video. Sheesh it looks like I have a butt tumor.

All I can say is everyone who plays them "gets it" immediately. If I could afford a set I'd have one of each.

Under the hood of a Zepher...

What you people don't get is what the biggest difference about the Zephyr and another copper-wound p'up is NOT what you hear, EQ-wise, but what you FEEL while playing a Zephyr-loaded guitar.

What Frank Falbo is saying in this very thread is exactly what it happens: if you play it, you "get it". If you don't, a clip just won't tell you the whole story.

It's like trying to imagine the effect of smoking pot based on the faces somebody smoking it makes, shown in You Tube. ;)

I've had the privilege of playing for about half'n hour a '59RI loaded with a Zephyr set that a customer of mine brought to my workshop, so I can vouch for what Frank is saying.

What you angry-with-Seymour people should ask is NOT for useless clips or UToob wankery, but for Zephyr-loaded test guitars present in the biggest Duncan dealers all over the country. No, make that all over the world, LOL!

THAT would actually make some sense.

HTH,

Kind of like saying "please send me a VHS tape of a demo of high definition TV looks like so I can view it on my tube television" :) however, with the right comparison, like if you filmed a non HD television and an HD side by side, an element of difference would still be viewable on a regular television. But that demo alone would not be enough to convince someone it is worth the price tag. Experiencing a big HDTV in person though, that is the only way to really determine whether it has value to you. I would have liked to accept the challenge of making a suitable comparison video during my tenure there, but alas it did not happen.

You know, it's funny because that is the one thing that comes through very clearly from that video - how much fun those guys are having playing. You can tell that each player is grooving on that tone and letting it feed back into what their fingers are doing. The actual recorded tone I hear on the video is nothing special, but I think we can all agree that those guys are really getting into what they are playing.

HTH,

I dunno, for the cost of those things, it better give me more lovin' than my wife does. I love SD stuff, the Seths in my Hamer are some of the best pickups I've ever used. There comes a point when all this "extended range" and "more room at the top and bottom" or some such just becomes another reason to turn down your lead players treble and presence knob when he isn't looking. If you like 'em, more power to you, but when other people point and laugh at the craziness of it all, don't be surprised.
