Phase reversal on a JB

Greetings!

I have tried and failed to install a phase reversal switch. (Epiphone Les Paul, 3-way toggle, 2 x JB, 2 vol 2 tone)

I couldn't find information on this here at SD wiring diagrams.
But I did find this, and tried it: https://www.warmanguitars.co.uk/201...ase-reversal-switch-into-your-guitar-pickups/

I put a DPDT switch between the neck pickup and its volume pot. I thought the switch simply needs to switch the places of the black and the green+bare, but this didn't affect the tone at all (and, yes, I know the effect should be there only when both pickups are engaged, but there's no effect).

Can you give any advice? I'm sure this has been done umpty-million times... (if no other reason, then at least because of Knopfler's Money for Nothing tone)
Is the Warman guideline mistaken?

Bare always goes to ground. :nono: You'd only be swapping the black and green.

Ok - I took off the bare wire and connected it to ground, bypassing the DPDT switch. Now only the green and black wires are 'swapped' by the switch.
But there is still no effect at all...

And both pickup volumes have be to full up and the pickups should be volumewise in the same ballpark. If the volume pots are like on 10 and 8 the oop effect disappears.

A single pickup has no absolute phase. (Polarity, actually.) You only hear the difference when used with another pup.

first, i dont think the money for nothing guitar tone was out of phase. im pretty sure it was a lp jr through a morley wah and laney amp. the mic setup was two 57's and one other mic i cant recall. one of the 57s apparently drooped towards the floor so there was probably some phase cancellation from that. apparently they could never replicate the tone exactly again, but wrote it off as a happy accident

Yeah, that's not an out-of-phase tone, although it has been described like that because the mids were notched out. I think it is a wah parked in the middle somewhere.

The out of phase mod is described by Knopfler himself in a Guitar Player interview - I should still have the magazine stashed somewhere, must have been about 1994 or so.
But the wah method was also described in the same interview by Knopfler's tech... he said they have a CryBaby set in a rack (this was for the On the Night tour)
