if they are out of phase normally, you might have to flip the magnet. you could try switching the hot and ground wire but the braid is probably grounded to the cover and having the hot signal on the outside probably wouldnt work well for a few reasons.

I had the Phat Cat/Burstbucker #2 (and Burstbucker #3 later) in my Les Paul and they are not out of phase with each other.
On the bigger picture, think of the illogic of pickup makers making pickups that are out of phase with other makers' pickups -- it would cut their sales drastically because so many newbies would reject them because they didn't know how to fix the phasing problem.
I don't know of anyone who makes a humbucker without the magnet set so the adjustable screws are south polarity and the slug screws are north.
And even if they did, you can easily solve any phasing problem with pickups that have bar magnets by just flipping the magnet over in one of them. (Strat/Tele single coils are a different animal due to having magnets that you can't remove.)

I've got mine and installed into the bridge of my 95 LP standard (the neck is a custom wound timbucker - thicker and fatter than his usuals). As Zhangliqun said, they are not out of phase, so no problems.
Mine measures 8.90 K :beerchug:, and sounds great. I really loved it, great on the wound strings (very clear, more clear than any of the HB's I have tried), and not that wild on the plain strings. That's my first step into the p90 land, and I loved it!

A good single coil gives an "airy" quality to the tone that few, if any, humbuckers can match. The trick is finding one beefy enough. I think the Phat Cat bridge does the trick, though I'd still like to try one wound up to 11k or so...

I am sure MJ at the custom shop can get one wound for you. But I still would be a little skeptic about the results of 11.00K especially with #42 AWD wire.
If you were to get it done by all means please let us know of the results.

I had her rewind a Phat Cat neck DOWN to 7.0k for me once, so I know she can do that sort of thing. (This 7.0k Phat Cat is now the best neck pu I've ever heard.)
When the money comes in, I intend to take the cheaper route and buy a stock Phat Cat bridge and then just hand-wind the requisite number of extra turns (probably 2,500 to 3,000) on it myself. I've done this before with good results on other pickups.
As for the #42 wire, if you've seen a Phat Cat with the cover off you can see that there's plenty of room left for a lot more coil -- and just the fact that the coil is wider (never mind higher ohmage) will give it more beef.
