Phred instruments

Re: Phred instruments

So no one has one of these things?there is noooo way I could afford a ludendoc, this may be as close as I can get. I'm so on the fence,I've heard of other boutique luithers out there doing it a little better for quite a bit more, but what's a little better?

Re: Phred instruments

never seen them or heard of them. just cause they look like a languedoc doesnt mean they are anything like the real thing. paul builds amazingly responsive instruments.

Re: Phred instruments

I hear ya on that...but I definitely don't have the cheddar to spend like that. I've always tried to find the best value for the money. The most important thing about my guitar is how easily it helps me represent myself as far as playability. Of course I want tone and options as well,I've always been a tone monster. I can get a lot from amplification...I want my guitar to be comparable to a perfectly set up skateboard or the smoothness of a fine tuned ride....with hot pickups. Balance I suppose. I'm just interested in the phred stuff for the on board effects loop. To be able to have certain things just on the amp loop, and certain things in a daisy chain from my guitar without getting all convoluted. Not at all saying I'm going to get one,or that it would be anything close to a langundoc, but the info on them sounds okay. But it's all been from the company, and of course there going to talk about it like its Jesus. I'd like to talk to someone who has one,or has played one to get an unbiased opinion.

It could be affordable and legit,or a expensive Chinese knockoff. I would just like some real info on it. Not from lot heads,or guitar snobs, but players who are serious about their set up,and don't have a fortune to spend either. I usually get to buy one "something" a year, around tax time. Be it a new guitar, amp,or some random smaller stuff. I've always traded away gear for other gear always becoming unsatisfied with whatever it is. Now I'm trying my best to buy permanent things that will always be with me. I've had a lot and a little at different times in life,I'm a little above zero now,and I want to make smart buys from here on out. But it has to fit my style,I'm not gonna buy a strat cause it's USA,or a twin reverb because it's the thing to have. Anyway, sorry for the rant, with all the info on the Internet,I can't find anything real on phred....but I'm curious

Re: Phred instruments

I have no first hand experience, but when I was asking around about the Jerry Garcia model the consensus was that the quality was commensurate with the price (4-5 hundred) and on par with Epiphone. I think they would be great if you are in a Phish (or Dead) cover band for the looks alone.

Re: Phred instruments

Thanks for your reply. I really love some Jerry tones, but I'd love to implement them into my sound. I really play mostly acoustic, but when I plug up I tend to get a bit too heavy. I want to achieve that deep delayed filter that never seems to end. Trey gets it a lot. I like to switch time signatures in my turnarounds and that would be the perfect kind of idea for the stuff I do. In no way am I a dead/phish cover guy,and my sound is a lot deeper and more sarcastic, but I'd love to have that in my arsenal. The last 10 or so electrics I've had,I've kept a ducan distortion in the neck. I tune a half step low and have played in drop d for the last 15years. Not that everything I play is heavy, but it usually has the potential. I kinda play this Appalachian chunk funk reggae thing, strictly a rhythm player, but I cross pick and play in strange timing. I've never really played with a lot of effects, but I'm wanting to enter that phase in my writing.
Can anyone help me how to upload a sons on here from my iTunes. I got to record it in Atlanta at sae. It's probably the best quality thing I've recorded, but not produced the way I want. It's not the best representation of my style, kinda my most poppy single, but it's a good tune nonetheless
