i got to see john play up close in memphis a bunch of years ago, not his rig, but a real b3/leslie rig. still sounded like a monster

I saw him a few times at DP concerts, but not super close (although one time I was right up against the stage at the House of Blues). It was in 96, when the band sounded better than it had in years.

This is true- no pedal can replicate throwing sound around the room like that.

nope, such a beautiful thing. i gig with a few guys who still drag out a leslie as long as there is room on stage. two that still drag a chopped organ as well, but man, even chopped those things are heavy as hell!
