SD "signature" pickups....
Many, many years ago, it was rumored Mr. SD himself approached Eddie Van Halen about making a signature pickup. Eddie supposedly turned him down because he rewound his own. However, that didn't stop the EVH pickup from being created. EVH standing for Evenly Voiced Pickup, even though people in the music world new it stood for Eddie Van Halen.
Fast forward to today, and there is the Whole Lotta Humbucker.... It's been advertised as SD traveling to England to help a guitarist refine his sound for the album... But it's also common knowledge, Jimmy Page used a Telecaster for recording with, thus making the statement a little left of center....
What do you think? Personally I think SD makes awesome pickups and I don't care about what artist or song a pickup is modeled after, if it sounds good, let 'em rip!
