Hey everyone,
I'm new here and am posting to see what wisdom might be shared regarding my issue:
I have a '60 Jazzmaster that has the sweetest sounding pickups ever. I love the tone I get. The only problem is that I'm often led back to my '99 Lonestar Strat so I can get the sweet chunk of the Pearly Gates HB in the bridge (which is tapped--I also love the single coil tone of the bridge side of the Pearly Gates HB). I love that Strat but compared to the Jazzmaster I am woefully disappointed in the tones I'm getting from the stock neck (the middle pup in the Strat is actually pretty good). I've tried many different pickups over the years in Strats, but I've always kept said Strat stock. Now I'm really ready to put in a different neck pickup. Does anyone have a recommendation for me? Something smooth and big sounding with plenty of string definition and clarity would be ideal. The biggest complaint with the stock neck is that it sounds flabby, formless, and wet. Thanks so much for your help!
Oh, and FYI I'm running both guitars into a '63 Princeton or at '61 Deluxe with almost nothing in the way except for a Spaceman Effects Gemini III fuzz and a Fender Phaser.
