pickup problems in a hamer

hey, so a few years ago i got a Hamer semi-hollowbody and lately its been having problems. first, my piezo is dead and im not quite sure what to do about that. but also, even when i go just through the electric pickups, there is this constant hum. i thought something was wrong with the output jack, so i looked inside at the electronics and found out that whenever i touch any metal on the guitar body, the hum intensifies...as if i was touching the end of a live amp cord. i have no idea what to do about this, and according to a "certified repair center" my warranty covers none of this. does anyone recognize these problems? also, any suggestions on what i should do? thanks.

Re: pickup problems in a hamer

sounds like a ground problem to me

a good guitar tech should be able to diagnose the problem in short order

Re: pickup problems in a hamer

Is it a USA Duotone? If it's a USA Hamer, the warrenty should cover it, I would think. Hamer is very good about covering that kind of stuff. Did the "certified repair center" tell you what the problem was and why it wasn't covered under warranty? I have no familiarity with piezo pickups, so I can't help you there. But, you could call Hamer Customer Service directly and get some answers, or at least shoot them an email. They are really good at getting back to their customers. I've contacted them directly a couple of times about general things and got a response pretty quickly. Check out the contact info on www.hamerguitars.com

Have you checked your battery?

I know that when my battery goes dead on my EMG's I get noise.
