pickup repair

Anyone here any good at repairing a pickup? I've got a CC that apparently has a dead coil. I had it installed in my Hamer Special and it sounded just fine, exactly like a full humbucking CC. The only problem was, I was getting horrible "bad ground" buzz. I took the baseplate off to see if the wires had somehow disconnected from the coils. But, to my eyes, all seems normal. I don't have a meter, but other members here have hooked it up and it reads half of what a CC should. I've got a CC split in another guitar, and this one does not sound split. But I can't explain the dead coil reading and the "bad ground" buzz. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: pickup repair

Hey Travis; I repaired a single for Joelap once. I'm not expert in that field, but I guess it worked. I have an unusual situation. I work in a Navy cal lab with microscopic soldering irons and micro-tech tools on hand.

If you want to send it to me, I'll see what I can do. No promises.

PM me.
