ladies and gents, long time lurker needing some help

Im currently in the process of modding an old Tele and need a few tips on what to get to replace the bridge pick up, have ripped out the old single and routed ready for a humbucker. I was about to head down to the shop and grab a trusty Ol JB , but have noticed great tips on pairing for amps and thought I would share my aim and see what you all think.

Trying to achieve a meatier sound without being too metal, I play a lot of 90s stuff and prog.

I will be playing it through an AB set up of a Boogie DR and a Line 6 Spider Valve mk2 100 head

Ps, does anyone know where can find a wiring diagram to wire a H/S on a Tele? Weird I can find sss hss, HH, but not H/S. Weird

Re: Pickup Selection help

SH11 if you've a maple neck. Will help sort of tame the brightness, and it's a kick ass pickup. go to guitar wiring diagrams .com Iam pretty sure the have an hs diag, they seem to have one for everything else, and best of all, the diags are free.

Re: Pickup Selection help

what pickup do you have in the neck?

im just running the what ever the standard thing Fender back in the 80's had in the neck, im kind of keen to keep that in there.

The idea is essentially have a meaty, almost LP/PRS sound at the bridge, but still be able to pull that bluesy fender clean tele neck sound.

thank you for all your help guys, you have been great.

If I were you, I'd go for vintage output model like; a Pearly Gates, a 59, PA-TB3 Blues, a Jazz ...

If you still want a JB, I may recommend Perpetual Burn; It sounds like a lower output JB with more balance and dynamic response. It also cleans nicely with volume pot.

i dont mind the higher output though, there are going to be times i send a lot of gain through it.

The PB can deal with whatever gain you're putting in to it, while keeping the JB desired character

Cool, what are people's thoughts on jb jr's and little 59's, I've gone to the trouble of routing but, I was always under the impression that hot rails we're more of a bodge than a serious consideration?
