Pickup suggestion for Cort guitar

Hi,

I got my hands on a nice looking and feeling Cort G260.
It has two single coils and a humbucker, mighty mites... well, they have a nice name but it ends there...

Tone woods are: swamp ash body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, 12" radius and pretty large 22 frets... I love it...
It sounds very much like a strat...

I have the TB12 at my disposal and I plugged it there already, and it I love it!
But, I still need to fill in the spots for neck and middle single coils.

What I'm looking for is something that retains as much as possible the single coil basic tone, but without the hum... I play lots of distorted tones, pretty gainy sounds... I can say that I didn't like the cool rails samples or the hot stack... the duckbuckers sounded too bright, even piercing...

Any suggestions?

Thank You!

Re: Pickup suggestion for Cort guitar

Hey again,

I did some more listening to the audio samples on the SD web site,
and after comparing with their regular SC's such as the ssl1 I realized that either the classic stack or the hot stack are closer match for me... the question is how would there be their note separation on heavier gain settings?

Also, is there a way to accomplish hum cancelling between the middle pickup and the bridge humbucker? (tb12 in this case).

The 5 way toggle switch is Ibanez alike with 8 terminals if that matters...

Thanks!

Re: Pickup suggestion for Cort guitar

I would use a normal 5 way switch and a push pull pot to drop the 'bucker from series to parallel. This, combined with a pair of Classic Stack +'s in the neck and mid should give you a completely noise free set with good #4 position sounds.

Thanks for the tip!

I purchased a pair of STK S4's and I'll probably replace the 5 way switch. One mod that I'd like to do that doesn't work with the Stock 5 way switch is to wire the bridge pickup with the neck pickup to give a more TELE type of tone...

I have some 5 way switches at my disposal...

Actually now that I think of it I have a mega switch with 12 terminals.
What can I accomplish with this switch? and do you have wiring diagrams that will fit? I can tell you that wiring 2 humbuckers using the Dimarzio schematics with a 4 pole 5 way switch works with this switch so hopefully I can accomplish more using this with SSH configuration.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Re: Pickup suggestion for Cort guitar

AFAIK that Mega Switch will do fine, sorry, don't have a wiring diagram handy but I DO remember them circulating both the net in general and HERE in particular. Do a search.

Personally, I prefer using a mini-switch to turn the neck+bridge on regardless of the 5-way but that's just me. If you don't use/care about the middle-only option then the 3rd spot on that mega 5-way will just be the ticket...

Re: Pickup suggestion for Cort guitar

Hi,

Could someone help me with wiring diagrams? I failed to find these.
I'm looking for diagrams that involve the super switch, the one with 4 poles and 6 terminals per pole...

What I want to do is to be able to have hum cancelling in positions 4 and 2, and when the middle single coil is together with the humbucker then the humbucker won't work in series, either parallel...

Any Ideas?

Oh, I just found a diagram at the wiring schematics on the SD website... silly me...

Thanks for you help again!
