Yeah, my TS9 was purchased by John, modded and then shipped to me :)

Looks cool. I like the color because it stands out when you wear it. Brass nuts don't stay put with glue, so that's why he opted to screw it to the fretboard.
If you don't mind, how much would that guitar cost in US dollars?

According to Nuntius, I think the retail would be about $1200 US, GJ.

Re: Pics of my new Handbuilt Gordon Smith Guitar :D

The retail price of these guitars is £800 ($1,463.66). But I was able to get this guitar for alot less than that, which makes it even better value :)

I'm not entirely sure that I like the Custom5 in the bridge though. I found it to be a good pup when under moderate gain, but as I play alot of 60s and 70s rock stuff, I sometimes only play with a small amouont of Overdrive, underwhich I wasn't massively impressed with the sound of the pickup. It could be an EQ issue though, so I'm gonna give the pup a chance for a while :)

Thanks for the posts guys, and Imp, thanx for the kind words :)

The black pickup rings look really good too (with the black pickups). And the absence of a scratchplate and toggle switch ring shows off the top. That guitar looks better every time I look at it! :32:

On the question of pickups, if you decide not to keep the C5 I'd go with a PG at the bridge to match the neck. I really like matched sets of humbuckers, and for classic rock and blues I think the vintage output buckers have the mojo! :)

Lol, I guess I was a little off.

I've always seen them in shop's retailing around the £600 mark, but I guess thats shops selling them for less than RRP :)

Thanx for the posts guys!

Simon, I requested it without a scratchplate and a pickup toggle switch ring just to see what a LP looked like without them!

Of the case of pickups, if I don't like the C5 in the end I'm gonna keep the 2 PGs, Demon and C5 that I have and am going to try a set of 'The Mule' pickups made by Bare Knuckle Pickups. As they have an excellent reputation, and also to try something a little different. If I don't like those, I can get a full refund and was thinking about getting a PG bridge pup to go with either the black or zebra neck PGs that I already have :)

The guitar also received it's 1st 'battle scar' yesterday; a tiny little scratch just above the brass nut on the headstock.

Thats a nice guitar. I also have a gordon smith - similar to yours but double cutaway and maple neck/fingerboard. The only thing i was never happy with was the sound of the bridge pickup. I started with a JB, then tried a Fralin PAF, then a 59, then a C5 and finally an Air Zone.
The reason i didnt like the first 4 pickups is because they all sounded a little thin and bright. On my guitar at least, the bridge pickup is very near the bridge (nearer that it would be on a les paul), and i think this leads to it sounding thinner/brighter. The air zone thickened up the sound perfectly so i ended up keeping that in.

I was originally going with a Blue/Black Sunburst but found a Lightburst LP on the Gibson site that I liked, so I had that colour copied as close as possible.

I'm going to try my Gordon Smith at a few band practises before I decide where I stand on the pickups :)
