Ok ive decided to keep my warlock. Im going to do a few cheap and simple mods to beef up its sound like moving from 9s to 11s which im used to.

Basically, i want to PIMP MY WARLOCK. Was on the train with friends today talking about installing fish tanks, neon lights, suicide doors and 18inch chrome rims  Ive considered furr and things like that. Just want some amusing add ons to make the guitar look interesting. Any ideas?

This is kinda what i got...

Dr. Prophet says ...

Chrome Humbucker Rims

Remove neck humbucker and install a small strobe light that you can order from Radio shack ... probably could run it off either 9 or 18v system

Get some painters tape/pinstripe tape and have at her with a small airgun ... Dr. Proph says flames are a good idea.

(I call it ... Butnut Factor)

Go to your local hardware store and install those Zakk Wylde strap doohickeys

Scallop the top "however many" frets as you wish

Skull Knobs instead of those domes.

Man strobe light is genious!!! Im going to make a project out of this. 1 humbucker and volume. simple wiring. That leaves room in the route for power supply. Im going bed now but im gonna make the ultimate stage guitar:) Thanks so far. Still open to suggestions.

Strip the poly finish down to the wood sealer.
Then refinish with irredescent paint so the strobe light gives it a neat effect! I hate to say it but I'm guessing the wood underneath there aint the prettiest in the world...

Agathis?

Re: Pimp My Warlock!!!

Chesswood, Chinese agathis. So Yeah, it blows.

Re: Pimp My Warlock!!!

in the bronze series i wouldnt be surprised if it was made of plywood............but anyway ive never played with scalloped frets. what do they do? it seems to me like your fingers would press in more and it would pull on the string and make in slightly out of tune.

I would guess the same thing! But also at the same time perhaps you would have more control over bends because there's a pit under your finger?

Paint it black and have flourecent flames added. Then bring a black light on stage so the flames glow. Get the fret markers coloured while you're at it.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN AWESOME IDEA!! I gots to try that out

It alows for a lighter touch, and that for some in addition to not touching the wood makes faster playing easier. I personally have a heavy touch, and cant really get used to scallops. It does, however, allow for some cool bending and vibrato. You just press down on a fret for a bend, which can be really useful, expecially on the pinky.

Re: Pimp My Warlock!!!

Is it possible to add flames and the like on top of its current black poly finish? The body wood is agathis. Im going to go into some shops and see if their are any nice things i could put on:) I will probably remove the neck pup and leave bridge pup and volume (means no tone control on any of my guitars!). Chrome pup ring fo sho! Ive seen some pearly guitar knobs aswell. Gotta think whether to go down the bling route or just make the guitar look hardcore.

Also i would like to scallop the high frets. My friend had it dont professionally to his RG and it is sweet. I wouldnt mind using this guitar as a practise. Im guessing a round file, and what else?

Thanks

Re: Pimp My Warlock!!!

Sharpen the edges so it doubles as an axe to fight off the fat + ugly groupies

Strobe lights, like the one The Prophet is showing, require several thousand volts to operate. If they say they operate on 9-18 its only because the high-voltage switching circuit is built in to the strobe circuit.

If you put one of these in a guitar - your guitar will become a metronome. :laugh2:

(Not to mention the slight "tingle" you'll feel in your fingers.) ;)

Oh well, it would have been cool. How about multi colour disco lights? lasers? LEDs? just remembered them.

Re: Pimp My Warlock!!!

I always thought that the Warlock needed some teeth glued onto the big cut out at the rear of the body.

Damnit! You're right ... didn't check the voltages ... 400w ...

Strangely enough though, I've seen something similar in a guitar once ... probably just a bright LED with some sort of 'flutter' type switch to it ...

Do you think it'd be possible to rig up something similar using LED's?

Worst comes to worst ... didn't Ace have a fog machine in one of his LP's

Since we can throw out actual strobe lights ... how's about this

"BRIGHT BLUE LED 276-311 $4.99

Bright blue LED. 300 MCD. T#: 1-3/4, 5mm. blue lens. 5V"

LED BLINK MODULE 276-299 $4.99

Seems like it could be a good "fake" strobe" type deal
