Beware of the spring versions of the Planet Wave cables. I've read on several places on the net of people having problems with the input jacks of their guitars and amps after using the those cables for a while.

Exactly why I refuse to use them on my guitars anymore

Cheap cables suck up tone.
Expensive ones often add too much treble and presence (eg. Monster)

PWs are right in the middle in my book.

My tech tried the expensive MOnster cable and said his tone became almost too perfect and hi-fi like when using EMGs so he went back to run of the mill cables. No one in the audience will be able to tell a difference!

I agree in the case of stage use. There you need something that resists tear&wear yet has a good sound.


Using hi-quality cables makes no sense until you go to a good studio: there every percent of presence is a blessing.
