Played A Dimebucker today...

Re: Played A Dimebucker today...

I do have a Dima in a guitar and I've had the Custom in a guitar before. The Custom was in a PRS CU24 and the Dime is in a one of a kind, 24 fret basswood/maple Conklin with a 3 piece maple neck and pau ferro board. Comparing the two is a bit tricky because the guitars are so different. I have installed Dimes into PRS guitars and the tone was amazing but since I didn't get to keep and play them for an extended period I can only generalize.

The Dime is definately hotter than the Custom.

The Custom is a little thicker in the mids.

The Custom seems a little tighter in its attack, the Dime has a little give.

Hmmm, looks like maybe my impressions are accurate after all, despite different axes..... guess I´ll add my $0.02 after all :)

The Dime also has a single coilish "skrik" to the pick attack, likely due to the thin rails.... Dime sounds better split than the custom (but a bit "unusual")...

The Dime seemes to have a more "scooped" and modern voice than the custom, which is just the ultimate PAF on steroids...... but the Custom also has a bit more bite and snarl to my ears... a bit more "aggressive"
