Played a Fender Tweed Deluxe today...

Newer model, but used. I don't think it was a Reissue.

Very nice little amp. I really enjoyed the Clean tone, and the dirty tone was Ok. I didn't really get to crank it. Loud though! Really loud... That's one of my setbacks on buying a tube amp is I don't know if I need all that volume right now, but I Do like the tone.

What are your impressions of these amps? I've been starting to look for a smaller tube combo, and this one is very close by on cosignment. I think they were asking $375 for it. How is that price? It was in Great condition.

I also played a Peavey Classic 30. The clean didn't really do it for me like the Tweed did, but the tone dirtied up more easily, and I really liked that.

How well do the Tweeds take pedals?

What was it??? It soudns like it wasn't a deluxe at all...

I am not all that knowledgeable about my Fender amps. There is a very real chance the local shop had the wrong item description on the tag, but the tag read "Fender Tweed Deluxe"

What about it doesn't sound right? What differences would there be between the Deluxe and a standard tweed?

Re: Played a Fender Tweed Deluxe today...

it sounds like it was a Blues Deluxe with a tweed finish, the predecessor to the HRD, but it was also recently reissued -- a 40 watt amp, 1x12, with 6L6s

the '57 Tweed Deluxe is a new model, a handwired version of the original 5E3, that retails for about $1800

Ok. I was looking for some on Ebay, and didn't see anything in the price range that this one was so I was starting to think something was off.

Right...you're not gonna be getting into a 5E3 deluxe for anywhere near that kind of money...

However if you liked that amp, for for it! I played wiht a band for a while and the other guitar player used opne and got great tones out of it...he was also a big pedal user and they took them very well!

Ok.. further research points to it being Blues Deluxe. Still I liked the tone a lot so I will be back in to play it again.
