Played An Awesome LP!!

And suprisingly, the name on the Headstock started with an E....
At a local shop yesterday and played a white EPI LP Custom. Very nicely done. Couldnt find any visual flaws. Was HEAVY! Sustained like a dream and even the stock pups (USA made) werent bad. Needs Duncans of course.
But even unplugged it had a bold and resonant ring to it. The binding was even. and minimal filler around the inlays. Just fantastic. I compared it to 3 different Gibson Studio lps and the Epi shone above them all in feel, tone workmanship and at half the price.
I have an Epi LP Ace Frehley and this Custom weighed 3 times as much and was so much nicer. The Frehley plays good and sounds great, but tends to feel like a toy at just 6 lbs with 3 buckers in it.
Are the EPI LP Customs generally a cut above , or is this one just one of those "special" finds?
For a disclaimer, Im not bashing Gibby or implying Epis as a whole whip them or anything like that. I was just very impressed with this axe, no matter what brand.. I want it sooo bad!

Re: Played An Awesome LP!!

The last couple of years of proper gibbos have been maufactured in a new factory, and have since become worse than the epiphone equivalents. If you want to buy an LP now, the best bet is an EPI or better copy. I've some Tokai copies that just shone.
