Played some Suhrs cs strats and an EJ strat I'm confused

Re: Played some Suhrs cs strats and an EJ strat I'm confused

I felt the same about Suhrs. Felt very bright, not a lot of body. Would sound great with modern amps, but just not for me at all.

Custom Shop Stratocasters... there's a worthy instrument... I'm not a worthy player :( But god do they sound and play incredible...

Re: Played some Suhrs cs strats and an EJ strat I'm confused

I have played a couple suhr's and also played a few CS Strats for that matter too, strange that to me the CS Strats always seemed a little brighter than any of the suhr guitars I played. Especially brighter then the S1 series.

For me tho, the CS Strat was more my thing and I adored it (though it was WAY out of my price range). All in all, I ended up building a premium parts Strat that is easily the best guitar I have owned and the only Strat I have ever played that I like better was 2400 Anderson classic. I built my Strat for just under $1000, hard to beat that...

Weird

all the suhrs I played in Greece were warm and great sounding except for one alder one

but the ones I played at the dealer here were bright as anything

sucked

Try a G&L S-500 it's an update of the Strat and works well, plus you can have a lot of custom features with a G&L

+1. Over the phone, I'd forgotten to mention G&L. Find a dealer and check out a bunch of those. I think their necks are closer to what you're looking for.
They have a bunch of neck profiles, and I think some are 1 5/8" at the nut.
And they usually already have a Duncan humbucker on their HSS models.

Re: Played some Suhrs cs strats and an EJ strat I'm confused

One thing with the Suhrs if the Buzz Feiten isn't set up correctly they can sound crappy. It's a pain in the @$$ system and the set up is a knife edge but that might be what was wrong.

I thought all Suhrs had Fieten I know Tom Anderson ruins all his with it.

You dont like BFTS, some do some dont...that is fine but your opinions should not be stated as fact. Setting up a BFTS guitar is no different from setting up any other guitar.....the setup is NOT any more like a knife edge than any other setup. All one needs is a tuner that can handle the presets once you are setup you are good to go. If you have had a bad experience or dont know how to deal with BFTS then that is not the fault of the system.

In 1997 I had a job with a Washburn dealer when they started using the BFTS. I was sent on a did the accreditation (you have to pay them remember, Ibanez offer courses for free on their trem system) So I know what the BFTS is all about. More than you probably. Here are the flaws.
As a string detunes the intonation is unpredictable, on a normal guitar as the string goes flat even note goes flat you bend it to the right note, with BFTS you get a mix of sharps and flats. So you must use a locking nut and retune between every song.
It is a massive con job. Any guitar with the frets in the right place can be made to play in tune and be more useable than the BFTS (and you don't have to take it to someone who has the accreditation)

The biggest champion of BFTS is Ed Roman, he even runs accreditation courses in the Nevada area.

Dude you seriously need to take a left off the pretentious turnpike. I have the BFTS training and EVERYTHING you said is fractally incorrect You dont have to use a locking nut and tune between songs....that is insane. For what it is worth BFTS is something I can live with or without.

That Ed Roman likes it means exactly, precisely NOTHING. Ed Roman also likes cheeseburgers...does that make cheeseburgers bad? If you want to discuss things then please do so but dont stoop into logical fallacies and dont talk down to people or make assumptions. Oh yeah, the biggest supporter of the BFTS is Buzz himself.

In short if you can act like an adult lets talk about guitars. If you want to act like Ed Roman then please don't respond.

YOU started this by flaming me. Pulling up a three week old thread. Lucky you can get it to work, it doesn't for most people and the whole accreditation thing is a con. It's a pyramid scheme.
STFU
Now where is that ignore button.

I didnt flame you. I disagreed with you stating an opinion as fact. Disagreement is not flaming.

I have no interest in pursuing a discussion with someone looking for an argument. This is over.
