Man it was great to see you. My apologies if I seemed to a tad grumpy, I had thrown my back out earlier in the week, so I was just hobbling around the warehouse in pain.
Well I'm glad that you got to play the VOS, it's an amazing amp, and especially when a player of your caliber plugs in ( I said "try some VH" so he rips into about 5 tunes, pretty much note for note).
Regarding being surprised at how young Ben Fargen is, I was completely surprised when I first met him, had no idea he was a few years younger than me. But this is a guy who's been building amps since he was in his teens, so his experience is beyond his years, he's just one of those "wizards" who really is into it, and the final product is just outstanding in my opinion.
Dude, you gotta cruise by the warehouse again soon, maybe some evening when you can jam longer. The studio will be done in a few months too, so if you got tracks to lay down, we can accomodate.
Take care,

Gearjoneser said:Hey Todd, cool to see you post on here from time to time. I didn't even get the impression you were feeling under the weather....I just knew it was a regular workday for you, plus I was fixated on that VOS! Next time I come over, I want to check out the line of pedals you rave about...Nick Greer pedals. I wanna hear the Sonic Boom OD into that Fargen.
It's so hard for me to get clips of my tube amps, since my studio is setup in an apartment.....I can only record with the damn modeling amp. I've got a lot of good mics, so once your studio is functional, maybe we should line up all our best amps and start dialing in the studio by making a ton of clips for your site, for Ben Fargen, and for the Tips'n'Clips section of this site.
I've got about 6 good amps, but Todd's got half a room of old Marshalls, Fenders, Mesas, GT's, Fargens, and probably more I haven't seen.
RevolutionMan said:Hey Joe, Yep I've got too many amps I guess, but you're not far behind, hehe. I do need to thin the herd, but just when I think I'm ready to let one go, I get that "well it's really good for_____" and maybe I'll use it in the studio. In reality I only play a few fargens, my silver jubilees, and the occasional super champ of subway blues, so it's a shame to see many of them collecting dust.
Regarding the clips, great idea, would be a useful too for me, for Ben, this site, and whoever else might need them.
Yeah the Nick Greer pedals are very cool, some better than others-for my use. The guy has a real sophisticated ear, It's the sort of thing where if you plugged in each of his pedals at low volume, they all sound very similar, but at playing volume they all have their own thing. I really should have had the sonic boom out when you were over, it's outstanding.
When I first got the sonic boom prototype, I called Nick and told him he wasn't getting it back, which he didn't appreciate I think, but he got over it. I still use it at home everyday.
I just got a Nick Greer amp head too called the Underdog 15, it's great. Bascially it's probably the best sounding bassman around, real organic, but it's a rocker for sure. It's a one trick pony, but it's a very cool trick, would be great amp for the roots rocker player.
It would take some time to go through all his pedals, but whenever you have an afternoon to kill, just let me know and we'll plug em in.
Yer killin me!! :laugh2: That amp sounds awesome.. maybe I'll hold off on the Bogner and do some more research.. hmmGearjoneser said:I have this really bad feeling that I'm gonna sell 2 amps and a guitar!
