Ok so i practice at home in a small 12ft x 12ft room that is empty and i seem to get really bad bass roll off. I know that this is the problem as when playing in other rooms it sounds fine . Now being that i can only have this room for playing in how can i reduce this problem??? I have bought a boss ge7 as someone said that i could dial the bass out with this eq pedal but how would i go about this as i have never used one b4.
Also any other advice is welcome.
Cheers Paul

Roll off implies no bass, did you mean too much bass? I would think in a room that size you would get standing waves and too much bass. Try some soft surfaces like a couch, drapes even if there aren't any windows, a rug or invest in some acoustic treatment for the room.

Re: Please advise on small problem

Square rooms are generally bad for acoustics to begin with . . . try playing around with anything that might soak up bass frequencies but won't kill off your high end. Ideally you would want a couple of big batts of rockwool in plastic bags in all the corners of the room. If it's an option, you could also try opening the door to let some of the bass escape your room.

If you're really serious about fixing the issue, check out this site here: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/index.php . At least they'll get you thinking the right way about acoustics.

By the way they sell "bass traps" that go in the corners of the room - that's usually where bass waves like to be a problem in addition to standing waves.

^this, along with using that ge-7 with the two left-most sliders slid down a bit and the 3rd one just enough to match the curve.

Re: Please advise on small problem

Auralex Gramma will decouple the amp from the floor. But standing waves will still get in the way. You need to get the amp out of a room mode where it's compounding the problem. Try pulling the amp out ... 2.5 ft from the back wall, not centered, but just right or left of center.

You should also get some treatment into the room.
