Please help: Chick in need of advice for a bridge pickup :)

Re: Please help: Chick in need of advice for a bridge pickup :)

Well The Screaming Demon is alnico 5 , but not as scooped as 59 or Custom 5 , and has as much clarity as the Jazz neck .
If you play on Mesa the gain from pickup is not an issue , so the Demon would provide balanced EQ ( especially with the dark mahogany ) , punch , clarity , good cleans , and Mesa would provide the distortion .

Yeah i definitely wouldnt be too concerned about a split bridge clean tone because the clean tone you will get from the middle and neck positions will be good anyway, especially with the jazz. And if you get something like a C5 to go with it in the bridge the clean tones will be great with no splitting required.

I also live in Australia and one thing ive found is that dimarzios come a little cheaper than duncans around here...depending on where you get them from of course, but id look into the new dimarzio Virtual PAF hot bridge pickup...and if you want more of a change even a dimarzio Virtual PAF neck to go with it because ive heard absolute rave reviews about these pickups and the neck one especially is meant to be one of the best neck humbuckers around at the moment. My tech described it as being a really open but still fat sounding pickup with a hint of strattyness to it even...if thats possible! But he couldnt get over how good it sounded both clean and dirty. Read the harmony central reviews about them, they sound great!

DiMarzio pickups are cheaper. Those are about $60 here in the States. I've heard great stuff about those too, though I haven't tried them myself. The reason it sounds really open and fat at the same time is because they've got a woody sound, but they've got a 3D-ish sound quality, kinda like sitting in a movie theater. The Virtual PAF neck has a chimey, bell-like tone, which is probably why you hear a strat-like tone from it.:fing2:
