Ooh! OOH! Please post up a vid of you bangin' out "Dr Love"! Awesome guitar.

Borrow Guitar Frenetic's GoPro camera.

Surely, this purchase must qualify yez for new Gloss/glaze? Turn of the year isn't the same without yo' annual Gloss campaign.

Not sure I would buy one with the pickups non functional. I think I would prefer the Epi if that's the case. Just practical, that's all.

They can be wired. But again - let's think about why you have THIS guitar…There is not one moment on a KISS record with Ace using the neck pickup. I have other Les PAuls with a working neck pickup….

badass guitar!

i love the recessed dunlops but they musta stopped making em or something. i have a strap for every guitar so it isnt a big deal that you cant use a normal strap and they hang perfectly!

Well - apparently Gibson found a hundred sets of them to build these….somewhere.

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

They got Ace to personally drop every single one that came off the line, then repaired it. That way the break would be authentic.

Possibly a very rugged looking scarf joint, the surface is scored by CNC to look like a crack, or it is just drawn on. Bob can you feel if there's actually a hairline crack/trench where the replicated break is? Are all the breaks identical between all 100 models?

I can't tell if it is scored or just painted somehow.

I will say that the detail on the dings, dents, chipped lacquer, and even the schecking / cracked laquer on the surface is unbelievable….

I kind of agree with Ace. This is a KISS guitar and if you're not playing KISS on it, you're doing it wrong. And from everything I've seen, 3 full sized humbuckers is impractical.

Werd - NOTHING practical about it!!!!!

If you are thinking practical…you miss the point.

Same as looking at an EVH and going "Well, only one pickup and a volume…it isn't very flexible."

Yeah I can agree with that. However, I do look at most one pickup/ one volumes guitars as pretty inflexible anyways. That being said, I do see Demanic's point. If you're paying for three DMZ buckers, you might as well use them.

But I'm an LP kind of guy.

A guitar so finely crafted will need to be handled with care to avoid scratching it ....

LMAO - but seriously…yeah….

they should just mark/outline the "original" scratch lines and dents, accompanied by detailed instructions, and let the user "replicate" the scratches and dents himself. Possibly an Ace Frehley costume would be a nice addition to the package.

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

Back Story:

I wanted a guitar like Ace Frehley since I was 10.

At 13 I got a Cherry Sunburst Standard. Close but not quite. At 40 I got a 73 Tobacco burst. Extremely close - but wrong guitar. So I was talking w/ Evan and he was telling about his 50th birthday guitar. I thought - special guitar for 50, that's a cool Idea. Maybe a Three pickup Custom?

Then my dad died last March. He got me the original. He also made me hate playing, miserable country music loving bastard. Then again, he'd have got me this one if it existed then. Anyway, the divorce and such is settling down. I paid a bunch of bills/debt. Hooked the kids up right this season. I started surfing the bay for Frehley guitars.

One afternoon I went to my local Sam Ash (where I got the 73 a decade ago). I asked Satan's KISS guitar pimp (Danny Russo, Sales Manager and KISS fan like me) if they had anything. Ebay stuff is pretty iffy, at that range, if you know what i mean. He looks it up and sure enough, they have one. Just one.

"Yes we do. Only been opened once to be examined, photographed, and put back in the vault. And check it out - number 016. Christine Sixteen!"

And that, of course, sealed my fate.

It's a year early for 50, but nearly 40 years late for a 10 year old. My dad never saw me play anything before he died. He'd like a lot of the solo acoustic things I do. I'd have had him down this Christmas if he were still here, whether he wanted to travel or not. I'd have set up a gig at my local bar. He'd hate everything I'd play on this though. And that's probably how a KISS guitar should be to a dad. I miss the old man. I'll think of him whenever I pick this up though…So while that guitar is around, he'll always sort of be around saying "Turn that thing to normal!" - meaning distortion off playing Glenn Campbell.

So that's the back story.

Anyway - as said in American Beauty….

Right up there with The Pearly Gates and Jimmy Page models….

It is kind of freaky looking over there and seeing it for real.

I clearly remember you busting my chops when I posted a NGD exactly 3 years ago with similarly serendipitous circumstances but I'll let it slide and instead say, glad you finally have her in your hands man, now enjoy her in good health and always remember your dad when you do, for better or for worse.

Happy New Guitar Day!!! :headbang:
