Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

I can't tell if it is scored or just painted somehow.

I will say that the detail on the dings, dents, chipped lacquer, and even the schecking / cracked laquer on the surface is unbelievable….

I think it's safe to say Gibson wouldn't cause actual structural harm to your instrument. That "repair" is probably only as deep as it is on the surface.

The Frehley replica model looks are a given BUT does it have the authentic smell?

Congratulations on your score. It's a sweet axe.

Many years ago, I was approached by Ace to supply SD pickups for his Gibson signature model. I was super excited about the project until I was told, "...and they have to have exposed, double cream bobbins." I said, "We can't do that." And I was told, "In that case, we'll have to use DiMarzios." And they did. And that's part of the story of your guitar.

That is awesome! Congrats!!! Yeah, I dont see the point in reliced guitars, BUT when they are reproducing a classic, it really does blow my mind how they can replicate every exact detail...

The first set of Dunlop straplocks I bought were the barrel type. was before I found the dual design ones. Id love to sink them in on some of my guitars, cuz Id love to have them flush . but Im too afraid to attempt the drilling..

And yes, non wking or not, with a signature/replica like this, you leave it as is.

I bought a couple boxes of smoke bombs back when I had my Epi Ace Frehley. Was considering making it a smoker. Man I miss that guitar so much!! The black wasnt so much Ace authentic, but it was great looking, was an awesome player and was only about 6lbs, which was great for my back..

One last thing.. Even cooler that you got 016. Christine is perfect!! One of my fav Kiss tunes!

Funny you should ask….

The first thing we did when opening was to wait for the Gibson "new guitar" smell to warty out of the case. And that is NOT what greeted us….

While I love me some SuperD, Evan, (who doesn't?) if there are specs or anything like that, a prototype, whatever - I have no problem with Zebra or whatever….

Gibson building it was potentially structural harm by their very nature these days….

That said, I did a neck bend on it that scared the bejeebers out of the staff. Held up just fine!

Very cool. I was wondering about the white back covers, afraid it might be a fake.

I like the story about your dad, and I can see why this might be so special. I have similar stories about my dad, who was also a big country music fan--and Glen Campbell, to boot.

I think the only instrument he ever got excited to see me bring home was when I bought my Ibanez Artist 5-string banjo back in 1976. I would always try to take it out to their house when I visited and play for him.

Another coincidence--when I bought my second Les Paul Supreme back around 2006 (it was a HCSB), I was only able to get it because it had a broken headstock and Guitar Center heavily discounted it--I got it for literally pennies on the dollar. It is such a beautiful guitar--the depth of the flame and the subtle gradations of color in the sunburst are really something to behold. I really think my dad would have been as appreciative of the beauty of the guitar as I was, and so I named the guitar "Jake"--his nickname.

And he would have loved that I got such a great deal! (And then he would have wanted to hear "Rhinestone Cowboy"!!!!)

Congrats!

Bill
