Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Got to be ash with one piece maple neck and a standard bridge pickup. I like flatter fretboards and wider frets so I've picked the American Ash.
If it plays well and fits those pretty common standards it could be any other model, I really don't care about what's written on the headstock.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Deluxe, because its copied a lot from a Les Paul, which is of course, the ultimate guitar.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

I play an MIM '72 custom reissue, and it's a great guitar.

I also like the various 50s and 60s reissues out of the custom shop, though my preference would be for an alder body with a maple-board neck.

Another amazing tele: Custom shop Tele jr.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

WOW! It's mind boggling to think about how many different ones there are; I thought my little list was "thorough":smash:

I'm leaning on the Lite Ash(Korean), but would love to have one of those vintage modified. The neck on that thing feels SO good.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

The nicest tele i have ever played is an american 62 reissue (much better then my 52 reissue was!)

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

I haven't got a Fender but always wanted a '52 R.I 'coz for me THEY are THE classic electric guitar. I ended up with a G&L Classic by chance really 'coz I gave up on Fender standards ... I just couldn't find one that I really enjoyed. Then one day saw a Trans Blonde G&L and that was it. Great guitar... but alas not a Fender.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

The only reason I bought a MIM ‘50s RI was because I couldn’t afford what I really wanted… the MIA ‘52 RI. That, to me, is the purest definition of telecaster that exists today.

That said, if I were to build a tele today, I’d probably add a few modern appointments to it, like slightly larger frets, and possibly a neck humbucker. Simple is key, though… I’ve never been a fan of super fancy looking telecasters. They are capable of “simple elegance” more so than any other shape, IMO.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

That's one reason the Lite Ash appeals to me...it's BONE simple looking, and it already comes loaded with a SD Alnico ll pro set.

Oh, how about a Tele with this as the basis? Man, how cool would this be? Why doesn't it exist in lefty. :(

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

I really dig my 52 RI that I had routed for a middle Strat pickup. I love the look and feel of teles and the sound of the bridge pickup, but I also love Strat tones as well. That's why the Nashville Tele is for me.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Well I have been trying Teles for a few years now in shop as I want to buy one. I have started with mexicans, going upward in price until there was one singing to my ear. The first one was the American Ash. I just love the way it sounds unplugged and feels.

Once I have sorted out my Studio, I'll get one of these... might take a while though :(

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Out of all I've tried in the range I can afford now, the Lite Ash takes the cake, but of the ones I couldn't buy without a second job, the Vintage Modified sure is nice. The 60th anniversary ones play and resonate maybe more than the American series, but I can't have a big 60th logo on the body.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

My Fender Custom Telecaster FMT HH is my favorite guitar.

Mahogany with a thin Set Neck and Flamed Maple Top.

2 Duncan Humbuckers with coil splitting option.

It's a simple design that feels just right for my personal taste. I bought two of them.

Right now, the blue one has a Custom 5 in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck and sounds good, but I'm always wondering if there's a better pickup combo. I'm pretty happy, though. It's the first guitar that just resonated before I even plugged it in to an amp.

The other one I have has a Pearly Gates Plus in the Bridge and a Reverse Wound '59 in the neck.

what colour is this? What did fender call it?

Whichever the one on the right most closely resembles... Ash, with Koa veneer... 4 way wiring...

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

6 year necrobump.

It was close between the Standard and '52 RI. The '52 reissue is just the tele, but it if you're going to do modifications (like I would) you might as well just go with a Standard.

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Relic NoCaster, Old Growth Redwood Tele-bration, USA La Cabronita Telecaster.

Was mightily impressed yesterday by this year's model of the G&L Tribute series ASAT Special. So much so that I am GASsing to check out the American version.

The reason why? They are all lightweight and resonant as ...

Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Where's the Thread Necromancer? ;)

I got a '52 RI because it just felt appropriate.
