Possible to switch colors?

I bought a SD Pearly Gates humbucker in black. I now want to have it in Zebra, is there anyway to do this?

Re: Possible to switch colors?

no, the bobbins are molded plastic so are the color they are. you can buy bobbin toppers or put a cover on to change the look

Re: Possible to switch colors?

Toppers are the easiest and cheapest way to go.

But you could also buy another Pearly in cream, then hybridize them to create a couple of zebras.

I didn't think that you can buy a double cream pickup from SD.

You can find a double-white PG and hybridize them, if you don't mind B/W zebra. If it bothers you terribly, ask around the ladies if they know of a cheap clear nail polish that develops a yellowish hue (if there is one, they'll let you know, because they have to know which one to avoid).

If you live in the US, and you bought the pickup from a Seymour Duncan dealer, and it is less than 21 days old, you can exchange it.

Bobbin Toppers may be the cheapEST way to go, but they aren't cheap. Those little suckers are 7 dollars per sticker. I've thought about ordering a few before, but that is too much for a single sticker.
