Re: post pics of your Les Paul standard

Makes sense.. You have some gorgeous axes. Is it me, or are the classics kinda dormant these days?? Meaning, are they still doing the fancy tops and stuff with them??

Thanks man. I don't have a clue what Gibson is even doing these days. Everytime I turn around, some new Les Paul is out that's nothing more than a new take on a different Les Paul that was out a few years prior it seems. A few years ago they discontinued the Classics and started doing Standards with the 50's and 60's necks and the somewhat decent flamed tops. Now I don't even know what all in the hell they got going on. I think they make some Classic Antique model or something now. There were a couple of those out recently with H-90's I was really wanting, and I still wouldn't mind having. However, those may have just been one of those guitar of the week/guitar of the month type things. Like I say, I can't keep up with them anymore. I just know what I like and that's what I stick with. I don't really see any more Les Pauls in my future at the moment, unless it's a 56 RI or a 57 RI or something like that, but ya never know.

I just keep telling myself "That guitar is photoshopped." I know it isn't, but it let's me sleep at night.

lol nope it's very real...looks even better in person too. i hunted high and low for a light weight, resonant and alive player with a monster of a top and that's what i landed and have been very happy with it!

Yeah, I know how you feel.. See that beauty and think, those must be implan..... er, um,,,,, that must be photoshoped.. too perfect..

Seriously,
gorgeous axe!!

Jolly,
Yeah, know what you mean.. So many "new" things, but Nothing new... I must say the new 08 standard I played the other day was the first new lp in years that felt good to me.. The neck and fretwork were quite nice.. Only to be offset by the goofy wiring dealy.
They need to release some special tops again.. Like your teal one.. :eyecrazy:

Re: post pics of your Les Paul standard

I have the 50th Ann in my LP standard as well (A2). I like them a lot.

It bothers me that I took those pickups out, and have them in a box. The 50th Ann. Seth Lovers are spectacular pickups, and I can't wait to put them back into a guitar. That honeyburst flametop in the pic has had the Brobucker/Pearly Gates N for the past couple years. I may keep it that way, but the Seths really sounded great in that guitar.

You know what Seths do best? They sound great with wide open cleanish amps that rely on power tube gain. When you crank something like an EL-84 amp to get power tube distortion, the SETHS RULE THE WORD! Seth Lovers love cranked non mastervolume amps, because they smooth out the highs, and have tone like nothing else. If you're a LP player and use tube combos cranked up, I urge you to buy Seth Lovers!!!

+1 to Seth's! I have a Seth bridge in the neck slot in my LP and it's a fantastic match with the Brobucker in the bridge. BOTH pick ups do lead and rythm equally well... sometimes it's hard to decide which to use 'coz although they are different they do it all... for me at least.

Re: post pics of your Les Paul standard

Does that mean I can buy the orange one? :D

If you'll buy it you'll be the owner of the best looking guitar on earth, you know that right?

This is NOT helping my Les Paul GAS.

Nope. I'm seeing a bunch of guitars there I don't really need and can't afford but want so badly to own.
Not sure I'd go for a burst though...

I'm thinking they would sound fantastic through a Pro jr. then?

argh! you know what bothers me? That I too, have seths in a box..:banghead:. I've got a nice sounding rev. zebra that loved el84 amps like the marshall 1974X and some tube laneys.

oh well, let's add fuel to the fire.

BTMN,
Never heard of that brand, but that looks like a smoking axe!!

I sure wish I could try a lester with a pair of seths... I cant swing that kinda money just to try something. (same thing with Black outs) Especially with a low output pup. I tried a Dimarzio PAF once and tried Alnico II pros in both neck and bridge and they didnt have enough power to suit me. ( I still have the A2P in the neck, (YUM) but the bridge was too weak.

Man, you deserve to own a Les Paul. You want one, you need one, why don't you have one?

I do now. :D

Was reading through this thread again and saw your post. Thought a response was in order.
