Post your favorite oddball guitar

We all have Strats and Teles and Les Pauls... but what oddball guitar do you like most? I'm not talking about on the web, what oddball guitar that YOU own (or used to own) do you like the best? An old 80's "Star" guitar? A Dimebag ML? Below is my favorite, and many of you have seen it before. It is the Beer Guitar and started out life as a Washburn back in the 80's... it isn't super oddball, but the finish is. It plays "ok" but sounds nice. Kinda cool to pick up once in a while.

So, what is your favorite?

I used to own this Novax fanned fret guitar. I wish I still had it, it was a great playing and sounding guitar.

Both are Japanese, though I'm not sure when they were made. I still have both of them. I actually used to gig with the bass quite a lot. I stopped cuz the low string broke and I just went to another bass instead of changing it. (That was about two years ago, and I still haven't replaced that string. Shows you how lazy and cheap I am.) I used it tuned to D standard with the bottom four strings from a light-gauge 5-string set. It was a monster in terms of sound, and to play.

1967 Kent 823. Pretty sweet BB King like tones...in an old school, lo-fi kinda way!

My Fret King Esprit is pretty much getting all of my attention at the moment.

I'd still love to have another one of these. I should never have sold my old one... :(

Re: Post your favorite oddball guitar

When I was a kid kid there was a music store that had a Kimberly like this one for sale. The price was $80. Now they're going for $500.
I'd still think they look cool.

I like a lot of those kooky old Burns guitars. I'll have to look up which model it is exactly.

My '80s Carvin V220. Plays and sounds awesome. Definitely a head-turner, "pay-me-attention!" guitar. Everybody thinks it's upside down.

Don't have a photo of mine at the moment but it's exactly like that one except for the pups. Mine has black coils.

I had a black one a really long time ago, one of my biggest gear regrets ever, Gibson XPL Explorer:

Re: Post your favorite oddball guitar

Being a blues player, Flying V's seem pretty bizarre. I have a couple, fun once in a while, but can't see using them as a main guitar. There's other guitars with strange curves, but when a guitar doesn't have a waist, and has two large wings sticking out in back...that's definitely well outside of the norm (hence it's initial flop). How many guitars have a skid pad so they stay in your lap? Even though it's been around for decades, it's a still strange girl to dance with.
