Power Brake or Pull some Tubes

Re: Power Brake or Pull some Tubes

the Scholtz is a joke and I wouldn't use one as a paper weight...the only other thing I will say is that the Marshall is a completely different beast than the the Trainwreck/Dr. Z/Kendrick...

Re: Power Brake or Pull some Tubes

Christian....how does the Z scrub off the power? That other one that was described on here that uses a coneless speaker sounds interesting, but i wonder how much noise it would make. As i recall, the Scholz was the only one widely available for many a year....wonder how many amps it damaged?

the Weber MASS is the attenuator that ises a speaker motor, as for the Scholtz, if the amp is in tip top working order and you don't try to run a 100 watt amp on 10 in your bedroom you might be ok but let's face it...most amps are NOT in tip top shape, most people ARE trying to attenuate a high wattage amp and most guys are also doing so in their bedrooms!

As for the Dr. Z/Trainwreck/Kendrick it works off power resisters thats about all I know...they sound better than a hotplate to me but some guys really love their Hotplate(s)...I actually like a Hotplate but I don't like being locked into one impedence. Kenny Fisher designed the Airbrake and claims that it is not bad at all for the amp, the Dr. Z and the Komet are lic built versions of the Trainwreck, the Kendrick is an "update" of the Trainwreck built by Kendrick...FWIW, all the Airbrakes that were sold as Trainwreck Airbrakes were built by Kendrick anyway...Kenny only designed it, Kendrick built them all.
