Pricing on Gibson husks

I like to keep an eye out for any guitars that are cool and need some repairs to become workable again. The hope is that it's a model I like it that has potential and can be had at a reasonable price even though it may need to be repaired a bit, refinished and/or need hardware and electronics. I can do all of those things and I like putting my own stuff together to make something unique.

I'm not talking about brand new guitars that come "pre-gutted" from Stratosphere. Typically it's vintage Gibson husks with some cracks, missing binding, maybe need a neck repair.

I absolutely cannot believe the prices on some of these things lately. People want hundreds of dollars for something that's been absolutely shredded to death but it's old and says Gibson so it has to be worth something right? It's bonkers.

Look at this pile of splinters for only $600!

Or this dead on arrival hot pile of turds for $1100

A no brainer here at $2500 for completely disassembled Gibson acoustic parts

$1300 for a Gibson body with a completely random neck slapped on?

And the undefeated champion of any listing EVER........just look at it

In a microcosm of that whole thing is if you look listings for the Gibson ES 125.

For whatever reason there are quite a few husks of this model out there. Many are beat to death but people are still asking between $800-2000 even thought it's fully gutted---no hardware or electronics. But then you can see whole guitars in that same model that are about the same price?

I want it to make sense. It's not making sense.

Then, in the other parts of the world........I picked up that Gretsch White Falcon with the insane paint job.......a $4000 guitar.......for $1600. haha there are still deals out there but man you have to turn over every rock.

I think they must be? I follow a lot of them and they do get sold. But it's crazy........hollowbodys with cracks and damage and needs a full neck re-set plus has an old not so great headstock repair........$600. say what?
