procrastination with this guitar wiring projects?

I've bought some parts to rewire an EPI LP and Jackson Dinky, and I kinda think I've decided what wiring I want to do on each, but then I keep finding wiring ideas that make me reconsider my choices.

So what is everyone else experimenting with when they hear about new wiring ideas that you want to try out? Do you have a cheap guitar (like a Fender Mex strat?) that easy enough to tear apart and rewire again? Just wondering. Thanks.

Re: procrastination with this guitar wiring projects?

I'm really looking forward to the SD Triple Shop pickup rings that Jol Dantzig from Hamer is going to install in my ES-335.

I don't want any mini switches or push pull pots on that guitar - or any guitar really.

The Triple Shots have two little switches moulded into the ring that let you split the humbucker into a single coil and choose between the two coils so you can use either one. You can also use the two coils in series (normal humbucker tone) or on parallel (humbucking but the tone of a single coil).

I'm undecided about pickups yet but I'm leaning towards four conductor Antiquity with full strength alnico 2 magnets or maybe those custom shop Peter Green Antiquitys but with 4 conductor cable.

Lew,

You managed to hold onto one of your ES-335s!

I've been wanting to try a spin-a-split, maybe on a PRails. I'm very happy with the triple shots & pups on my LP, but I'm tempted to add a push/pull to reverse phase on one of the pickups.

Wiring is a lot easier to redo as opposed to repainting/refinishing.

How will you know what you like unless you do it?

Old Red is getting the hamer treatment then, i presume?

PS: good to know you have a 6-string companion to go with you on your journey :-)

We're pullin for ya!

I use crocodile clips to find useful combinations.

A Strat is generally not good for this since you have to take the pickguard off, which in turn requires to relax the strings pretty far.

A Les Paul or other guitar with a rear cavity is much better for messing with schematics.

In general you'll find few of the exotic wireings to be useful.
