Proffesional reviews?

Hey does anyone of you know a place where I can find some good proffesional reviews (for magasines or something like that) because I'm getting pretty tired of wading through the crap at HC... Cheers.

Guitar Player and Guitarist magazines have the best review sections. GP posts some up online at www.guitarplayer.com .

also vintage guitar magazine has good reviews, including some online.

i actually hate 'professional' reviews, for several reasons

they never mention shortcommings or what the product CAN'T handle

usually they just run through the specs, talk about first impressions, and have a paragraph or 2 about them playtesting it, and how it just drips with _____ or knocks you on your ass from ___ feet back

and i find them to be...pretty limited overall, like on guitars, well, take the artcore for example, in the pickups section, they'll mention what they are, say they sound great, and move on. Well, great for WHAT? What do they sound like, paf? modern hi gain? bluesy? eq? warm, harsh?

no, just guitar one, and the ones in the musicians friend catalogs & other ones in misc. magazines that i thumb through at bookstores

ah, there's your problem right there. GP reviews pretty much always point out what gear is suited/unsuited to, what it sounds similar to etc.
