Project H-H PUPS for a Mahogany guitar

Re: Project H-H PUPS for a Mahogany guitar

What Aceman was saying is that your guitar being all mahogany with rosewood fretboard is going to sound a bit dark. The PG has a bit of a brightness to it. Therefore it should be great for your guitar to get a good well-balanced tone, easy to EQ to your liking with your amp.

A PG set would probably be great for your guitar. I've found that a P-90 bridge PU goes very well with the PG neck. The P-90 is a wonderful sounding PU in the bridge position for chunky rhythm as well as cutting well-balanced leads. And I would think that the A2Pro in the bridge would also pair very well with the PGn.

Good luck with your project, have fun and enjoy.

Diocletian, thanks. The last ask, in the Duncan's site, is recommended the PG's for alder/maple body and maple/ebony fretwoods. I understand that in that specifications the pickup will be very bright. In the Mahogany guitar, with rosewood fretboard, they will be bright but not much, right?

It depends on the guitar. You might get a pickup you love in one guitar, then put it in another guitar of the exact same type, and it sounds like crap.

Only one way to find out. And brightness can be tamed.
