PSA : I Have Discovered THE Ultimate Tonal Recipe

Re: PSA : I Have Discovered THE Ultimate Tonal Recipe

If you discovered it then you must share it. Audio is required.

I only have one microphone, and I don't have a place where I can mic two amps without bleeding. Maybe later this year I'll be able to do something about that, but don't get your hopes up. I might be able to get some recordings of a jam session with me using both amps, but that still wouldn't be for a few weeks.

Besides, I wouldn't consider running two amps that have been around since the 60's together as a "discovery." It's more of a personal discovery than, say, discovering something that nobody's ever seen before.

Just get a 57 for the Marshall, and then a condenser microphone of some sort for the fender, mic them so that they are in phase, if they turn out to be out of phase, then invert the phase on one of the mics (Doesn't matter which one) in the DAW, and you're golden.

Re: PSA : I Have Discovered THE Ultimate Tonal Recipe

Which Fender and which Marshall are you using? I really want to run a couple of my amps in stereo, I think it would be so cool.

Re: PSA : I Have Discovered THE Ultimate Tonal Recipe

I'll have to try that. I just scored an M-80 fairly cheap and I have a Valvestate here...

I'd love to hear the egnater, from all the descriptions it sounds like a beast

68 Bassman and an Egnater SW45 in the Plexi channel. I'm using my H9 to run both amps in stereo.

For many years...a friends rig was:
Fender Pro Reverb + Marshall JCM 800 2204 1x12 combo.
As he has gotten older, he typically just takes one or the other...but still likes to take both to Bigger/Outside gigs if he can.
best

As long as you mic both amps close enough with a cardioid mic, bleed won't be an issue. Just be sure to not point both amps toward each other, and pull the mics back far enough (6-12" should be plenty) to avoid proximity effect.

Sounds like you are ready to add couple of Plexiglass shields to your accessories.
Joe Bonamassa would be happy to sell you a set for 350 bux ... http://shop.jbonamassa.com/products/jbbaffle-1
You will probably want 2 sets.....700 dollars.
Or you could go to:
Lowes
Home Depot
Tap Plastics
etc etc
...and make yourself some for 30-40 dollars. Of course, these Would Not have Joes signature on them.
best

Yessir! My personal formula is Road King and Splawn QuickRod in stereo. Road King is set to accentuate treble and bass, Splawn fills out the mids.

Yep, that's exactly how I do it too, except I'm running a Triple Rec and a Pro Mod.

Seriously Joe?

Be careful you don't catch something from your F&M.

Re: PSA : I Have Discovered THE Ultimate Tonal Recipe

I can't wait to hear my Orange & Sunn together... Maybe throw the Bassman on the 2x15 between them just for extra... Extraness.
