Man this thing smokes! TheOdie was less than enthused when he heard about it. He thought "oh great! Another crappy amp to check out for Scott..". After the first few chords played through the presets, he was hooked. He dialed and tweaked on it like a madman getting all the sounds to be just so. I left TheOdie's place even more impressed with it than before. He has it now as a matter of fact as he would probably enjoy messing with it and I don't need to beat it up further in the truck while I travel for work. It loves Vintage 30 speakers. It really loved TheOdie's 4x12 loaded with original V30's specifically. My port city had good bass, but no punch or focus compared to the 4x12. Still sounded good, but it does lose punch being a ported 2x12. There is no substitute for a 4x12. You can get close, but you still won't be there. There is no replacement for displacement so to speak.
This thing has really good marshall clone tones that impress both myself and Theodie. The clean tones were excellent. The mesa clone tone was also very very good. Nothing was perfect but all were close enough to be fun and most of all USEFUL. No fluff on this amp. Everything sounds really good and could be useful to a performing musician. The tone is excellent and the feel can fool even the most hardened tube-head. Most folks wouldn't know you weren't playing an all tube head without seeing it for themselves.
Here's the cool part. I spent a total of $480 for the head out the door with the 3 year GC extended warranty. Turns out that GC is closing out the heads to make room. It's a great time to get a fantastic head for the exact same price as the Chinese made BBQ grill head.
