Push Pull coil split SG

What exactly do I need to buy to change my neck SG pickup to coil split with the volume knob? I have a WLH neck and a custom sh-5 bridge, which I don't care about splitting. And is it an aggravating job? Thanks

Re: Push Pull coil split SG

Does your pickup have 4 conductor wiring???

If so, then 1 pot.

If you can't solder, then it could well be aggravating. Otherwise I don't have a clue about what is aggravating to you so can't elaborate.

Re: Push Pull coil split SG

The Whole Lotta Humbucker has 4 conductor wiring, so you are good there. You'd need some sort of switch, usually it is a push/pull pot. And you'd need a diagram. Ignore the bridge pickup push/pull in this diagram.

Also with an SG make sure the pot is not too tall for the body cavity

Push Pull coil split SG

You need a short split shaft knurled 500k linear taper push/pull DPDT pot. For example, a CTS EP-0346-000 as seen here: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/electrical_pushpullpots.htm

But if wiring is aggravating, you’re going to love wiring a push/pull. But I will say, I did the full 6-switch Jimmy Page wiring with WLH in my SG and it stayed for over a year until the switches gave out. It became a Swiss Army knife of guitars.
